The Status Report on Homelessness in America's Cities reveals that the number of children in homeless shelters is 2 1/2 times greater than the current student body at The University of Texas. In 2005, Captain Hope's Kids distributed critically needed items worth an estimated $325,000 to a collaborative network of 42 homeless service providers in North Texas.

Captain Hope's Kids Programs & Services

Recreational Activities Program
This program provides funds that make it possible for homeless children to participate activities with the Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. These activities provide opportunities for children to get out of the shelter setting, learn more about the world around them, and have fun.

Birthday Boxes
This program provides a simple shoebox decorated with birthday wrap and filled with small gifts, toiletries, and special surprises for homeless children who are celebrating their birthdays while living in a shelter. By volunteering to create birthday boxes, this program provides a great opportunity for children of all ages and backgrounds to help other children who are less fortunate.
